Ever since purchasing Barbara Walker's A Treasury of Knitting Patterns, I have been obsessed with the daisy stitch. Time and time again, I go back to the page and just stare at the beautiful stitch pattern. So much so that the spine of the book is now permanently worn and the page lays perfectly flat. What can I make? I ask myself over and over again. Finally this weekend, inspired by the crazy weather we've been having here in Jersey, I decided it was time to knit it up.
So what did I come up with? A simple buttoned cowl.
I am a person who tends to run a bit on the colder side. I've been known to wear full on cashmere sweaters on a cool summer night. Knitting cowls has become the perfect solution to this problem. Not only are they small and compact and fit in any bag awaiting the next wear, but they are also a small and very quick knitting project for someone who works in retail and is constantly on the go.
The marriage between The Fibre Company's Canopy Worsted and the stitch was more than even I expected. Not to mention the fact that I've never been able to resist a well placed button. I hope these pictures serve as a little inspiration on this overcast New Jersey day.
